I spent the last week of October in a beautiful and simple studio on the coast of Maine. It was some of my most treasured time of 2010. When I sat down to sketch out the November Card Society cards upon my return I kept thinking of the flat colors and the dry elements of those days. I found some vintage imagery and worked to get just what I was looking for and couldn't even dream of adding any color to it. I wanted November to be as striped down and uncomplicated as it could be. It was funny to realize, after I printed the cards, that I had also used the same two colors in November of 2009. I guess black and cream are November colors in my mind and in my dreams. I love that it's truly effortless to feel Autumn without even seeing those traditional Autumn colors in front of you. I think I'll do black and cream this coming November too. I like tradition.
