inspiration: september 2010

Inspiring me these days and nights:

Lush fruit from the Union Square Market
Wisconsin farm animals
Little pots of herbal goodies
The greenhouse at Blue Hill Farm
A gorgeous hazy midwest sunset captured on expired film
Little scarves and handkerchiefs
New Autumn patterns and layering
The cats always knowing how to find the best spots

I have long declared this month my favorite in Maine. One can still feel warm sun during the day and wear an old cashmere sweater at night; what could be better? Oddly, I will have spent most of this September in Brooklyn, New York which is really nothing like my well-loved Maine September. While things are winding down in Maine after the busy summer months, Brooklyn is still pumping like it is on any other day during any other month. I will be curious to see what my inspiration ends up being for October. I am guessing it won't be the cows and pastures you see as inspiration this month ... but then again, in Brooklyn anything seems possible so you just never know! —MAV
